Robert Emmets is a GAA club in the heart of Dublin 12. We are nestled in between Crumlin, Walkinstown, Kimmage and Templeogue. Our playing fields are located on Greentrees road in what is locally known as the ‘8 acres’.
Club football is the beating heart of the GAA across the country and on Saturdays and Sundays Greentrees Park is alive with cheers and shouts as Robert Emmets teams do battle to score points and goals.
Most people catch the Gaelic football bug when they are young. We have our Academy/Nursery which train children in Gaelic football, Hurling and Camogie from the age of 4-7. Its all about learning the basic skills in the academy and it is always lots of FUN! Some of the older children in the academy can benefit from an extra training session on Wednesday evenings also.
At Robert Emmets coaching is provided at all levels from our Academy up to our Senior Ladies team. As we are a small community based club , everybody knows your name and all children get a fair chance to play in games. Children feel very safe and secure in our training sessions. The children learn in an environment which encourages confidence and skills development. Gaelic Football is a fun team sport where children receive the following benefits:
- Increased confidence – playing sport will provide each participant with confidence, and allow them to develop a real sense of achievement
- Becoming part of a team – children like to feel as though they are part of a team or group. It also challenges them to work as part of a group and to think of others
- Improved skills – participating in sport helps children develop a range of skills including balance, coordination and agility
- Children that participate in sports are less likely to be overweight and suffer health problems
For further information on teams and training times, please contact us at 083-3448695. We have very strong links with our local primary schools Holy Spirit ns and St. Damians. We have a club coach working in the schools weekly so that all children have access to learning the skills of Gaelic football.
